We’ll be gathering a savvy group of developers and designers to team up with young girls. The teams will work together to brainstorm and prototype applications that promote civic education and/or inspires girls to serve as leaders in our democracy. Aside from tapping girls’ ideas about the best ways to get more girls (and ultimately women) in leadership positions, this afternoon will also introduce girls to the application development process.
Members of the White House staff, including Sarah Hurwitz, speechwriter for the First Lady, will join these events via videoconference to offer a message of support and kick off the event.
Projects submitted to the Equal Futures App Challenge will be judged by a prestigious panel including Jack Dorsey (founder, Twitter and Square), Geena Davis (Actress), Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, and others.
Boston friends: If you’re a developer / designer who would like to help out, or you know a young girl who would like to participate, drop us an email (email@example.com).
